The giant windows were covered in a spatter of frost glazing the glass in streaks of silvery white. Winter had hit hard and even though Christmas had been and gone snow still remained upon the ground and would for the foreseeable future, as was the nature Scottish weather, which was great for a while but the snowball fights soon grow boring (eventually), and there was only so many snowmen you could make before you ran out of carrots for noses and spare scarves for their bodies. Not to mention the blistering cold was enough to keep most students out of the grounds and the common rooms packed, that being the reason Jasmine had scurried to the library to escape the noisy chatter off the jam packed common room.
Pushing open the door Jasmine shivered in the chill of the almost empty library, pulling her robes around her body she wrapped her arms around herself and stepped into the endless room. Immediately she wandered into the nearest aisle and took out crumpled up list from her pocket, it was lengthy but it would be worth it once her essay was finished. Gazing up the book case she grinned and grabbed the dusty looking book from the third shelf before she tucked it under her arm and began her search for the next book on her list.
Finally with her arms laden she'd found the last book on her list, adding it to her pile she trembled as her knee's wobbled under the weight of all the herbology books, she tightened her grip and frowned as she could hardly see over the top of the pile. The aisle seemed empty, she couldn't hear anyone but surely if anybody did see her coming they'd move out of her way.
As Jasmine drew closer to the end of the aisle she could only praise herself for her nimbleness, she hadn't been this agile since well, she couldn't remember. With a proud grin on her features she stepped out of the aisle and right into the pathway of an oncoming pedestrian. Not one of her books were spared and as they flew from her hands she felt her balance fail her as she tumbled to the floor in an ungraceful clatter.
Horror struck her features and her mouth fell into the shape of an O as she turned to the person she'd walked into.
“I-I'm so sorry,” she stuttered as she hurried to her feet, smoothing down her school skirt she offered a hand to person.
“Here let me help,” she could feel her cheeks blazing a deepening scarlet as she nibbled her bottom lip.
