It was finally here.
It was going to be quite possibly the best day of her life (so far! She had the thrill of starting a family to come yet!) but at the same time she had never been so terrified in her life.
There was something about standing before the full length mirror in her white wedding dress that raised goosebumps on her arms and set her stomach full of butterflies. It probably didn't help that her mother was beside her fussing over every inch of the outfit she wore, right down to the shoes on her feet to the bands that kept her hair from falling into her face....really there was no need to pull at the hem of the dress in such a way! And if her mother thought she could tighten the strings of her corset anymore Ana would be forced the stun the woman! "Mama stop," Turning with a slight swish as the lace swept behind her she caught her mother's hands in her own. "Its perfect. Everything is perfect." Raising the hands to her lips she gently kissed them, looking into her mother's eyes as she did so and promptly tearing up to match the other woman.
Letting go of the hands she vainly flapped her eyes with her hands, as if it would stop the tears from falling since she couldn't afford to ruin her makeup right now. It didn't help very much but a proffered tissue from one of her cousins soon fixed the problem and with a sniff accepted the bouquet from one of the other cousins and turned to greet her father as he entered the room.
Which of course prompted a fresh batch of tears that threatened to roll down her cheeks. "Oh papa," She allowed herself to be swept up into the arms she had always run to whenever she had needed someone stronger than her mother. Her brother had never been a fixed point in her life and although he was no longer with them she couldn't help but be thankful he was no longer here...she dreaded to think how today might go had he been alive to turn up. Sniffling slightly she brought the tissue back to her face and once again swiped the tears from her eyes and a quick charm from her mother removed the tear marks from her face.
"There, now you are perfect." She commented as she now fixed the veil to her daughter's head, "And it is time to go out."
With a deep breath Ana hooked her arm through her father's, threw a beaming smile over to her cousins acting as bridesmaids and then to her mother, "We had better not be late then." She commented as she moved out of the room they had been in, heading towards the large wooden doors that acted as a barrier between them and the rest of their guests and most importantly her future husband.
As they opened and the first few notes of the wedding march began she took a deep breath to steady the nerves that still held her in their tight grip and focused on the end of the aisle where she could just see William move forward slightly so that he would be there to meet her at the other end and with that image in her mind, stepped forward into the start of her future....
