We have a method for playing Quidditch games
here at Owl Post, but it can be a little confusing if
you're new to the style of it. We'll try and keep this
as simple as possible, so you don't get lost.
And please, if you are on one of the Quidditch
Teams, and still don't understand something,
PM one of the Admins and ask, we're always
happy to try and explain further. <3

how we play
• • First of all, two Teams will be selected to play against each other. Each Team, will be designated 'odd', or 'even'. (This is because we will be using dice to make things fair).
• • One of our admins will roll a six-sided dice (in their post), to decide who starts the game. This dice number cannot be altered by anyone, not even us admins, to make it as fair as possible.
• • So, let's say an odd number came up on the dice. This means that Team Odd (as we will now call them, to keep it simple), gets the Quaffle first. So, a Chaser from that team, will have to be the first person to post in the game thread.
• • Now, this Chaser cannot try to score straight away. They must pass the pall at least once, before Team Odd is allowed to score.
• • In the meantime, Team Even can come in at any point now, and try to take the Quaffle. Or Beaters, Keepers and Seekers from both Teams can join in, doing their own thing.
• • After every couple of posts, an admin will jump in, and do a few dice rolls, to see how successful everyone is, at whatever they are doing. So, for example, if Team Odd's Chaser tried to pass the Quaffle to another member of their team, our admin would roll the dice to see if it was successful or not. So if an odd number was rolled, this means Team Odd caught the Quaffle, and are still in possession. If an even number is rolled, this means Team Even intercepted, and they now have the Quaffle. Pretty simple, right?
• • You might be wondering how the posts will flow if you have to wait for an admin to tell you if you were successful or not, eh? We do have a way around that. Each time you post, you must state what your character is trying to do at the bottom of your post. E.g
(Evie is trying to hit Nethalin with a Bludger.)
or
(Elise is trying to score a goal)
This way, it's easy for our admins to just jump in quickly.
• • Another thing we will roll the dice for is Bludger damage. For our Beaters thwacking the things around, every time they try to take someone out with a Bludger, first the dice will be rolled to see if it hits in the first place. The result depends on whether it's an odd or even number, as always. And then second, if it does hit, the dice will be rolled again, to determine how much damage has been done. Rolling a 1 would mean minimal damage, your player is fine. Rolling a 6 would mean your playing is greatly injured and is now out of the game. Anywhere in between, they are injured and can still play for as long as they can last.
• • If you see there have been four posts since an admin last rolled the dice, please PM one of us. Don't post any more replies, just Owl us, and we'll dive in a.s.a.p for you, and then you can carry on with the game.
• • After a while, once the game is in full swing, the two Seekers will receive a PM telling them that the Snitch has been hidden, and it's time to find it.
• • Hidden, you say? What ever do you mean? o.O Well, we will hide a picture of the Snitch somewhere on the site, and it is the job of the Seekers, to find the Snitch. The first Seeker to find it and PM an admin with it's location, wins the game for their Team.
• • Don't even think about getting help from your Team, either. If we find out people have been helping their Seekers in their search for the Snitch, or that they have been tipped off by another member, that Team will be disqualified, and House Points will be taken from everyone involved in the scandal.
• • And it's as simple as that!
• • Also, people wanting to just join in the thread as spectators are more than welcome. We also have commentators to make the match more interesting, who will also be invited to join in.
• • Hopefully this has all been explained in the most simple way possible. Again, if you are still confused, or have any questions, please don't hesitate to PM one of the admins. =) <3
