7TH YEARS CHARMS

Queenie was ready for the new year. Charms wasn't compulsory for seventh year or sixth years but it was advanced magic that her students would be dealing with this year. As she looked around her room of Seventh years she dimmed the lights ever so slightly, she smiled happily, glad to be teaching again, the summer holidays always seemed so long.

"Welcome back ladies and gentlemen." Her seventh years were the only ones she ever referred to as ladies and gentlemen for they were now all of age. "Your seventh year is upon you now and I can promise that it will be the hardest year of schooling you will ever face." From left to right she looked again from face to face. "But just because it is harder does not mean that you stand alone. You will need to rely upon one another to make this school year a success and never forget that your Professors are here for you also. Now lets get to work."

"This year we will be focusing on non-verbal magic. We will be going back to the beginning of your time here at Hogwarts and starting your charms lessons all over again." Queenie helped out her wand "Now don't think that this will be easy. Today's spell will be 'Lumos'" The tip of her wand created a small light. "Everyone, wands out and say 'Lumos'" She waited until the room was aglow with wand tip light. "Excelent" she said, pleased to see her students still retained the absolute basics. "And 'nox' to extinguish. All together. Nox." All the wand lights went out with success and things seemed a little dim, but they wouldn't be for long she hoped.

"Now that was the easy part, next I want you to try the spells non-verbally. You will need to focus your mind on what you want to achieve, say the word over and over in your mind and when you are ready, command your wand non-verbally. Everyone of you is capable of this, don't let nerves get in your way of brilliance. Now, try." Queenie headed back to her desk, sitting upon it a watching her students as they began their lesson, it would take a little while before they would master it but she knew everyone of them was capable.
