Sixth years were an interesting bunch. They'd passed their OWL's and it was almost two years before they took their NEWT's which meant they had a little time to procrastinate but it really wasn't recommended. Still Queenie was there to help every single one of them if they wanted it, she was willing to give them all an extra hand if need be. "Welcome back to Hogwarts and back to Charms girls and boys. This lesson we will be focusing on a banishing charm. As some of you might remember we left off on the summoning charm, so what happens when you summon something a little too heavy and it's heading straight for you face? Well the banishing charm comes in handy if you're not fast enough to duck."
At the far end of the classroom, Queenie had a cushion on a table. "Now watch carefully , I'm going to send the cushion flying at me and then banish it. Notice how close I let it get before banishing it, note the wand movement - flick and swish, and the pronunciation de-PUHL-so. Ready." Queenie used her wand to bring the cushion flying at her, when it was a meter away from her face she flicked and swished her wand gently. "Depulso." Without a pause the cushion started flying back in the opposite direction until it hit the wall and slid back down, landing upon the table it had come from.
"Okay, so now I want you to all try the wand movements, I'll demonstrate again. Flick and swish." Queenie did it again and again from all angles so the students could get a hold of what she was doing and copy as best as they could. When she felt as though the majority had gotten it she moved on to pronunciation, she would help those that still needed a hand when things were chaotic, as they often got in Charms. "Excellent, now place your wands down and repeat after me - de-PUHL-so, depulso." she repeated the incantation a few times and smiled happily. "Marvellous! Now I want you to split into pairs, get one cushion per pair and take it in turns to use the banishing spell. Remember guys, help one another out and you'll learn faster, if you need some help or wanna chat I'll be aright on my desk. Happy banishing!" Queenie made her way to her desk and sat upon it, watching as her students paired up and grabbed their cushions.
