physical
physical appearance
Sixteen and already five feet and eleven inches tall, Arden is growing fast, and is likely to end up one of the tallest boys in school in his seventh year. He is lanky, with long legs, but he is so active that his torso is quite well built thanks to hours of Quidditch and football and other activities he takes part in around the castle. He has big hands and feet, and is a little bit heavy handed if he doesn't concentrate. Arden has a light tan, though he wishes his complexion was a bit better. He has a few scars and blemishes on his face from all those hormones raging inside him, but a friend (a girl) gave him some Madam Pimpernelle's products to try and help, and the majority of his imperfections cleared right up, leaving only a few to follow suit.
Arden is a handsome boy, with a mop of floppy brown hair atop his head, he is attempting to grow it out so that it frames his wide face and reaches his shoulders. It's taking a while. He has a chiselled, square jaw, and a grin to outshine them all. He takes great pride in looking after his teeth, and it shows, they are gleaming white, and luckily enough, grew straight, or he would have had a bit of an issue with them. He has a straight, gently sloping nose, adorable dimples in his cheeks when he smiles, and eyebrows that are a little bit too neat for such a strapping young lad. His eyes are on the smaller side, but a nice hazel hue that changes from dark green to golden brown depending on the lighting.

personality
likes
Being active, any kind of sports, having friends, doing well in his lessons, completing homework on time, nice teeth, savoury food, being around other magical kids all of the time, getting away from the orphanage, dream (or nightmare) free nights.
dislikes
Loneliness, bullies, nightmares, being told he can't do something he had his heart set on, feeling like he is beneath others because of his upbringing, missing out on fun things through lack of money, honey, teenagers who hang around in gangs, being told bad things about his parents.
erised
To have family, whether in the form of his parents back from the dead, or siblings/aunties/uncles/cousins/grandparents he never knew about, anyone related to him! Arden longs to belong, more than anything. To not be a drifter in life, to not feel like he's floating around not connected to anything of importance.
amortentia
Mud, cherries, peanutbutter cupcakes from the kitchens.
boggart
Death. Losing himself (he's lost everyone and everything else).
dementor
Flashes from the night his parents were killed and he was left on the streets alone, three years old, cold and terrified.
patronus
Phoenix. Arden's happiest memory is finding out he was magical and that he had a place at a magical school. It explained so much of his life that no one else had understood before, and made him feel like he might have a place in the world other than the orphanage.
overall personality
Arden is a boy who has been through a lot of heartache in his short life. At just sixteen, he has seen his fair share of nightmares, and struggles, having nothing but the clothes on his back and a few trinkets taken from his house by te orphanage when he was a toddler. He is very quiet when it comes to his past, and doesn't really like to talk about it much, though if pressed, he will (maybe moodily, depending on the question asked) give minimal details. He hurts a lot, even after all these years, and his past has scarred him more than anyone would imagine. He has nightmares every night about the death of his parents, so he's not a very good sleeper, and can usually be found in his dorm or common room catching up on school work.
He is a very hard worker, and believes in himself, despite coming from nothing. He was once a child of riches and wealth, and has every intention of working his way back to a similar position. He loves to learn, especially magic, though he does better with more practical or physical lessons, since his intellect isn't his strong point. He has to work his butt off to get okay grades in the brainier lessons, but he manages it through sheer will and determination alone. Arden can be quiet at times, usually when he is thinking about the past, or worrying about the future, which he does a lot, though he is a kind, caring person. He used to be friendly in a very innocent way, and learned quickly to be more guarded about interacting with people he doesn't know. But still, he talks to people and is friendly and welcoming, even at the risk of finding a new bully to pick on him about his clothes, or shabby old books, or lack of money for Hogsmeade trips.
Arden always has a grin for his friends. He loves jokes and being active, so he can be entertaining when he's feeling comfortable. He is helpful and generous with what little he has, and is always ready with a hug for those who want one. He is not your typical jack the lad, and is very well-behaved when it comes to respecting authority and following school rules. He's always been a good boy, and is quite popular and well liked amongst the castle staff. If only he could open up to them about the kids who pick on him, life might get a bit better, but Arden, as usual, tries to shrug it off and act like it's nothing. He doesn't like drama, and his kind of strength and bravery is a quiet kind. He is strong and brave in ways not always visible on the surface, and he intends to be a successful respectable man once he graduates school and can finally branch out and be who he wants to be, rather than the poor orphanage kid.

history
Brighton was full of cheer and relaxed Muggles who loved the lifestyle of living by the sea. Bacchus and Delphina Fiero (pronounced Fee-air-oh), noble Purebloods and former Death Eaters as they were, had integrated themselves nicely into Muggle society. They had money to spare, thanks to inheritances from well to do families, and liked the anonymity and privacy from magical folk that the Muggle town provided. You see, they had a lot to hide. Being mixed up with the last wizarding war was hard on them, and they earned a name for themselves as very dark people, even amongst the rest of the Death Eaters and Voldemort followers. They quickly gained a reputation as ruthless and backstabbing, betraying friends brutally as well as enemies, in order to keep their own skins out of harms way. A quiet life in Brighton followed the war for them, and they settled down to start a family, having a son in the spring of 2006 who they named Arden.
Arden was a bright baby, and spoiled beyond belief, materially at least. Delphina was a good mother, Bacchus stern and sensible, and it was the first time in a long time they had showed caring for anyone other than each other. He completed them, and they doted on him like only wealthy parents could. At the age of three, happy, well-behaved Arden was ripped from the comfortable, routine life he had, and by mere Muggles, no less. An autumn trip to the park turned into his worst nightmare, literally. After hours of playing, a gang of rowdy Muggle teens started stirring up trouble where the Fiero's where relaxing. Bacchus and Delphina had wands, but exposing magic to protect their son wasn't something they were eager to do. They moved to a different area, but trouble had already broken out and soon enough a gun was pulled upon the park-goers.
Worried and wanting to get away quickly, Delphina took her sons hand and whispered instructions to his, telling him that if anything bad happened, to hide and not move until it was all over, then to run as far as possible, preferably back home, but she could not have expected her toddler son to find his way back at the age of three. Bacchus began to usher his family toward the far entrance of the park, but only a minute passed before shots rang out, and Delphina was no longer holding Arden's hand. The toddler, good and obedient as he was, ran. He ran into the bushes, and crawled underneath a low bench, out of sight. It took him a minute of panicking before he turned around to peek out at the park, and found himself staring into the wide eyes of his mother. Arden was quiet as a mouse. Much as he wanted to cry and scream, he could not. That wasn't how a person was supposed to hide. You had to be quiet so nobody would find you.
Eventually it began to rain, and Arden lay still, staring into his mothers face until voices sounded out from a few feet away. Minutes later, hands began to take a hold of his mother and move her away from him. Arden wanted to scream at them to stop, to grab her and keep them from taking her from him, but she had told him to hide, and hide he did. He would not go against his mothers orders, not even in a situation like this. Once Delphina was out of sight, it was easy for Arden to see his father lying a few feet away, the same vacant expression on his pale face. A tear streaked down Arden's cheek as he watched the hands take his daddy, too. Still, he hid.
He must have lay there for hours in the pouring rain before finally moving. Night had started to fall, and the park was deserted. Arden wiped his tears away and did as his mother had wanted, he ran. Out of the park, through residential streets, and into the middle of town. By the time he reached a public place filled with shops, they were all closed. The streets deserted save for the sobbing toddler huddled in a shop doorway from the rain. He pulled his jacket tighter around him and curled up in a ball, unable to erase his mother's face from his mind. He stayed there all night, sobbing like only a child could, but no one came. It was morning before a Muggle lady came along and found him asleep on the floor, soaked to the bone and red faced. She took him to the police station, but it would do no good.
Bacchus and Delphina had had no friends in their life. They had betrayed too many, cut themselves off from anyone who may have liked them at one point or other. And they had no family, both without siblings. Arden's grandparents were long dead, and so he was left to be placed in a Muggle orphanage before he was even four years old. He cried himself to sleep for the first year, and then started to accept his new life, allowing a new routine to settle in, mixing with the other kids, and feeling utterly confused when odd things would happen around him. The lady who ran the orphanage used to whisper about him and give him strange looks when these things happened, but when he asked questions, he was shushed and never given any answers.
He thought maybe there was something wrong with him for a very long time before being visited by a kind middle-aged woman. She had a letter with his name on it, and told him she had to deliver it in person, because adults weren't allowed to read it. Arden never got any mail, and it took him ten minutes of staring in wonder to pluck up the courage to spoil the perfect envelope. He opened it with great care, savouring every second before a letter plopped out. "Dear Mr. Fiero. We are delighted to inform you that you will be attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Witchcraft and Wizardry? Well, the woman explained it all. She worked at the school, which was for magical children, and he, Arden, was magical! Really! Well, that explained a lot.
After organizing it with the orphanage, the woman came back for a second visit on the last day of August to take him away. Apparently he needed school supplies, and since his parents Gringott's vault had been raided and cleared of the vast amounts of money they had possessed by vengeful enemies, Arden had nothing in the way of funds. The school had arranged a small fund to help him out during his schooling, and Arden was bemused as well as excited when it came to spending it. He was taken to Diagon Alley and escorted around the shops, buying second hand things (all he could afford with such a small budget), which didn't bother him at all. Arden was immensely pleased to get out of the orphanage for a while, let alone going shopping and buying things like cauldrons and robes. He was given a room for the night at the Leaky Cauldron, and the next morning was taken to King's Cross station, where the Professor lady took him through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4 and pointed him onto the Hogwarts Express.
It was the craziest thing he had ever experienced, even crazier than his powerful parents being killed by a silly Muggle teenager. Kids just like him swarmed all over the place, and he followed the crowds onto the train, anxious yet excited to see what was next. And he wouldn't be returning to the orphanage until next summer! It was like stepping into some bizarre dream. Arden was sorted into Gryffindor, thanks to the undeniable bravery within him, and he found himself in a dorm with four other boys his age. He innocently tried his best to make friends right away, but found that not everyone was oblivious to the fact that his school things and the few clothes he had were second hand. He was picked on quite a bit, but there were kids who weren't cruel. Kids who saw that he had a great sense of humour, kids who saw the kind soul he had, kids who recognized the sorrow behind his eyes and wanted to erase it for him. Arden decided that he would be a great wizard, and he threw himself into his learning, wanting to have a great job one day, and be someone who would never be picked on again. Now in his sixth year, he managed to get a weekend job over the summer to earn some money of his very own, though he still can't afford an owl, but he hopes he can finally go on a Hogsmeade trip this year and be able to afford a few sweets from Honeydukes, instead of watching others try them with eager eyes. His grades are good, he has loyal friends, he can still only have second hand things, he still has bullies after him, but Arden is happier than he has been in a long time, and has his sights set on the kind of fortune he has been told his parents once had.
