physical
physical appearance
Ellen stands at approximately 5'6" making her rather average for a girl her age. She has excellent posture, and rarely ever slouches. Her mother used to tell her that standing tall and proud made people look confident; Ellen has grown to fully believe this. She weighs 120 lbs, and tries to keep herself in shape by running, yoga, and dance class. Unlike a lot of teenage girls, Ellen isn't stick thin and she isn't bothered by it all that much. Her hair is relatively long and a deep auburn brown; many tell her that her hair is the prettiest of her qualities. She has bright blue green eyes.
Dressing up and looking nice are two very important things to Ellen. Clothing is somewhat of an escape for her. Whenever she doesn't have to wear her school robes she can usually be seen in a some sort of dress, skirt, or a nice pair of jeans and a blouse. Ellen rarely ever wears sweatpants or t shirts because she thinks they make her look like someone who is lazy. Ellen always tries to make an attempt to look nice even if she's simply hanging around the common room.

When she was about six years old she nearly drowned. Her family had been staying at their lake house over the summer and she went out far too deep because she thought she could impress everyone. She was inches away from death when her older brother rescued her.
patronus
Due to her family oriented nature and elegance Ellen's patronus takes the form of a wolf. To project her patronus, Ellen recalls the day she became a published author in a muggle magazine.
overall personality
shy, friendly, gentle, organized, and kind hearted are words people often use to describe ms archer. without a question the most dominant character traits she possesses is her gentle heart and shy demeanor. Ellen doesn't like to be the center of attention even if it is for a good reason, and most of the time she tries to escape recognition. both of her siblings are much louder than her, and considering she is the middle child Ellen has learned to become reserved. her family members often tell her that she is going to make a wonderful mother someday.
to some extent she is obsessed with keeping things neat and organized. her bedroom is completely spotless, and if someone was to move something she'd know immediately. at home, Ellen is the one who does most of the laundry and dishes because she enjoys making things clean. her success with schoolwork can be attributed to her organizational skills.
her father is an artist and her mother used to act leaving her with a love of the arts. during the summer she takes art classes from her father, and she performs in the ensemble in some muggle plays. the world of art has become somewhat of an escape for her, and when she's not hiding behind a book she's probably reciting a monolog from a play or painting a picture. Ellen understands that taking such an active interest in muggle activities has opened herself up to being teased, and she often is, but most of the time she tries to pretend it doesn't bother her. the reality is that it does, and with most of the students having magic in their families she feels like a bit of an outcast.

history
Ellen was a surprise child for Marcus and his wife Charlotte. The couple had only one other child, Andrew, who was eight when Ellen was born. The moment the beautiful brunette was brought into the world her parents loved her immediately, even if she didn't fit into their plans. Andrew adored his younger sister, and he was very proud to be an older brother; he swore to protect his sister at all costs. Two years after she was born Avery was brought into the world. The Archer family was complete after that.
The existence of magic was known in the Archer household. Marcus came from a very noble pureblood household; he was disowned after marrying a muggle English teacher. Because of this the Archer children were taught to have an open mind when meeting people. In retrospect, Ellen was raised in a stable, morally sound household.
When Ellen was six years old something tragic happened to her. Going up to the family's huge lake house over the summer was an Archer family tradition for a long time. Ellen was out swimming with her brother and his friends. He told her she wasn't allowed to go with them, but she did anyway. As a six year old she had no idea how to swim. What was worse: she thought she did. Ellen went out way too deep and nearly drowned. She was very close to death, and if Andrew hadn't saved her at the exact time he did Ellen probably would have died. To this day Ellen does not go swimming.
As Ellen grew she became very close to her mother. She loved going to work with her; most of her treasured memories are the days when her mom would read to her. At an early age reading became her favorite past time. She loved to lose herself in a fictional story and get into the minds of the characters. Soon she discovered that there was a whole occupation where she could become a character. That was when she fell in love with acting.
Her mother had been an actress before she got married and had children, and to see her daughter take an active interest in the arts made her smile. Charlotte arranged for her daughter to start dance class and vocal lessons so that she could be more prepared for the stage than she was. Ellen was petrified with all the attention her mother was giving her and declared that she hated acting and singing even though she loved it with all her heart. Elle began to write to vent her feelings, and soon she found that she loved creating stories.
When she turned eleven she got her letter for Hogwarts. She was so excited to finally be attending the school. Her mom told her not to change too much and soon she was off to a whole new adventure. Her first day in the school was not as pleasurable as she had hoped. A group of kids teased her on the way to the Sorting Ceremony because of her family. Ellen didn't know anything about her grandparents on her father's side; she assumed they were dead. The young girl didn't know what to do; she wanted to lash out, but she was afraid of getting into trouble or hurt.
When the ceremony began she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Her brother had been a Gryffindor and she was exceedingly nervous to be in a different house than him. Ellen was a shy child and she had trouble making friends, but once she did she opened up a little bit. Many of her older housemates were surprised because her brother was such a loud and outgoing person, and she wasn't.
During the summer of her third year, her mother submitted one of her short stories to a British magazine's youth contest. When her story was chosen she was so happy. Her mother was very proud of her, and her dream had become reality when she was thirteen; she was a published author. Sort of. When she returned to Hogwarts that year she was on top of the world, and much to her surprise she made the Quidditch team as Keeper. That made her brother proud (he was keeper for the Montrose Magpipes).
In her fifth year she became prefect, and worked her butt off to keep her grades up and manage Quidditch practice and prefect duties.
When the catastrophe regarding the Ministry and Harry Potter exploded, her father sat down with her and explained what the situation was. He didn't want his daughter to be corrupted by outside opinions, and he decided to quit his job so he could be at home to keep his family safe. Ellen has firmly sided with her family with the Phoenixes and hopes that the Dark Avengers can be defeated.
During the summer before her seventh year, her brother was in a terrible Quidditch accident. He was in St. Mungo's for a week before they declared him brain dead. Andrew Archer was dead and there was nothing anyone could do. Ellen was basically catatonic during the rest of the summer. When it was time to return to Hogwarts she immediately quit the team because it reminded her too much of her brother and became the Head Girl. After the funeral she didn't give herself time to grieve, and her family members and close friends often worry that she's going to explode because of the grief.
