Florence is painfully aware that compared to those other girls around her she is somewhat 'bigger' than normal. She can never be described as fat -except by the bullies of course- but she is certainly big boned and as such is horribly self conscious about her appearance.
Despite this however she is a very attractive young lady, and although she looks as if she has never grown out of her baby fat she is a little slimmer now than she used to be. She is a perfect mix of both of her parents, having her father's chubbiness and her mother's pretty looks and this is perhaps the only thing she happens to be proud of about herself. She loves knowing that people can see her parents in her face despite the taunts that come with looking like this.
Her hair is a long light brown, usually worn loose to fall in front of her face. It is naturally wavy and she does very little to it as she sees no point in being vain since no one looks twice at her in that way. It is very rarely tied back since she likes being able to hide behind it. When it is tied back people are able to see the face she likes to hide away. It is not an ugly one by any means! It is a little round but she has a cute little nose and full lips that more than compensate for this. Her eyes are a beautiful hazel, framed by long lashes that are rarely tainted with makeup although when she does make that effort she is stunning to behold.
Thanks to her body issues Flo tends to wear clothing that covers her up completely. She favours her school uniform since she can get away with wearing robes over the top and even wears them during the summer despite the heat, making good use of cooling charms along the way. If she has to wear a skirt or dress she will wear tights with it, refusing to show her legs and nearly everything she own covers her arms. Seeing her in anything too girly is rare and anything that shows some sort of skin other than her face and hands is rarer still.

Florence is a very shy individual who never goes out of her way to stand out in a crowd and has a very small circle of friends. Thanks to years of bullying she tends to keep to herself and spends very little time outside her common room or the class room if she can help it, knowing that the moment she is alone the cruel taunts of her fellow schoolmates are soon to follow her. Thanks to this Florence has zero self confidence in her looks or even in herself. She thinks she is too unattractive for anyone to look at twice and although she is a very pretty girl takes no real effort in trying to make herself look nice in regards to make up or doing or hair since she doesn't think there is any point in it.
However, if anyone was ever to get beneath this low self esteem they would see the girl she was meant to be before the cruel taunts ruined her entire school life. Once upon a time she was a very confident and bubbly girl and this isn't entirely lost since whenever she is home for the holidays she shoves all the unpleasantness deep down inside her so her parents don't know the truth of her feelings and returns to her smiles and laughs. She is a very good liar and spends most of her time outside of school pretending everything is alright although sometimes it isn't a lie...she really does value her time with her parents.
Florence has a sense of humour and finds the various pranks that go on around the school to be rather amusing and although she is often a victim of said pranks she cannot take them to heart since they are always harmless and also involve those girls who spend their time ruining hers. She values the very few friends she has and would do anything for them and often feels as if she doesn't deserve them. She hasn't quite gotten past the thought that they like her for her and will admit to herself that sometimes she questions their friendship since she is terribly afraid that they are going to abandon her.
Florence is incredibly proud of her parents, especially her father. She stands slightly in awe of him and is very happy when people tell her she looks like him. His courage during the war is well known to her and she tends to look at him as more of a hero that most other people do. Since her papa is very close to the Potter's, Weasley's and Luna Lovegood (now Scamander of course) she tends to call their children her cousins although not necessarily to their faces but to the elders she will call them aunt or uncle. She loves them as much as her own family.

Florence was born to Neville and Hannah Longbottom 16 years ago in the rooms about the Leaky Cauldron where they had made their home some months after they were married. Since she was their first child the couple were ecstatic that she was a girl and having promised to name her after Neville's grandmother decided that her second name should be Augusta after the brave old lady and for two years she was the centre of their world until of course Hannah became pregnant once again.
Now many young children would be jealous of the thought of someone else getting the attention from their parents but even at such a young age she was far too happy a child to let such thoughts cross her mind and even when her younger sibling was born she found that her parents love did not diminish in any way and the two were treated with the same love and attention that the thought of being jealous never came up in her life.
Despite being pureblood and constantly surrounded by magic, like her father before her Florence was a very late bloomer when it came to her own magic and for some years her parents feared that she was a squib – not that there was anything wrong with that of course but they knew how much it meant to her to be able to go to Hogwarts! However, unlike her father she didn't have an uncle trying to hurl her off everything and it was with some patience that they helped encourage her to try and work her magic naturally and eventually when she turned nine her wild magic kicked in...and destroyed every window on the top floor of the pub in the process. Never have you seen a young child so happy! There were tears of joy on all their faces that day and it is still one of her happiest memories since it meant she would be able to go to Hogwarts. A place she had dreamed about ever since she was old enough to know what it meant in her life.
Aged 11 and Florence was getting onto that famous train, her parents and younger sibling standing on the platform waving her off with smiles on their faces to match her own. Everything was so exciting! She was coming to the school with wide eyes and a childlike wonder of everything about her however she hadn't spent more than a few months at school before she began to realise that other children could be incredibly cruel.
Although taunts were to be expected being a Hufflepuff but this was nothing like she had thought was possible. Every time she stepped out of class taunts followed her wherever she went. For a while she simply couldn't understand why the others acted like this until she realised that compared to the other girls she was practically fat and for a while was very nearly on the edge of being bulimic but it was thanks to her very few friends that her eating disorder has never gotten too out of hand. Despite this small mercy Florence is now 16 and her self confidence is completely destroyed. Despite being a very smart young lady she never draws attention to herself if she can help it and walks through the hallways practically hugging the walls, pretending that she doesn't exist. Her parents have no idea about the problems she has at school since she spends her school holidays working at the Leaky Cauldron next to her mother, pretending that everything is fine and dandy.
However, despite her problems she cannot help but hold a small amount of hope deep down that things will only get better once she can leave the school. The very thought of her future cheers her soul in ways nothing else has been able to.
