wand
Josie has a beautiful wand to call all her own. It was actually the first purchase she made after going to Gringotts in order to get the wizarding currency for supplies. The gorgeous wood is that from a red oak tree, unstained so that the ecru leafy grain shows through the gleaming polish. It is thirteen inches long with a handle that consists of three knobby bumps that look as if they are covered in the natural bark of the tree from which it was cut. Thin vines with great oak leaves line the fleshy body of the wand all the way to the tip. At the core there is one down feather from a new born Pegasus foal. The Ollivander’s shopkeeper said that the wand was particularly sensitive, requiring a very thoughtful soul, and that in the right hands could be quite impressive in the art of charms.

physical
physical appearance
Physically, Josie is a wispy little bit of a girl. No matter how hard she tries, Josie cannot seem to put on more than five pounds over her usual body weight. Whenever she does put on a little weight, it always seems to magically melt away as if she had merely thought it up. It would seem that Josephine takes after her biological mum, Eden, when it comes to being thin. Josie also takes after her biological grandmum when it comes to her height. She is quite short for her age, which makes her slightly self-conscious. Standing at only four foot, ten inches tall, she is generally the smallest amongst her peers. Being short has never held her back though. No matter what, if she wanted to do something Josie would go to great lengths just to do it because she the odds were against her. Josie started ballet when she was very young, often outshining even the older children. Years of dancing not only made her quite graceful, it also kept her lean frame toned, though she is not particularly muscle-bound.
Josie has fair, sandy blonde hair that falls halfway down her slender back in straight, baby fine tresses. Normally she wears it down because she thinks her ears are too big for her head. Nevertheless, there are certain occasions when she pulls it back into a ponytail or bun. Generally, that is when she is flying around on her broom. Her smooth skin has a healthy, natural glow. Almost as if it has been kissed by the sun.
Her cheeks are full and ever so softly rounded. She is what some people might describe as baby-faced. Thin, golden eyebrows arch above a pair of large, sparkling green eyes. Her nose is slightly wider than normal, just like her dad’s was, and very straight. Josie’s best friend Hannah has told her more than once that she has killer pouty lips. Because Hannah is into girls and boys, Jo always figured that they must be attractive. She thinks that her mouth is a little too wide and her lips a little too big though. On top of it all, Josie likes to wear make-up in many shades. Generally she likes neutral colors.
As far as fashion goes, Josie likes to try a little bit of everything! Jeans, shorts, skirts, tank-tops, t-shirts, and anything else she can find that catches her eye. She really likes wearing bright colors. Yellow, pink, blue, green, and purple are a few of her favorite colors. It looks like a rainbow exploded in her closet every time she opens the door. Sometimes she likes to be in with all of the latest fashions, but most of the time she would rather be comfortable than socially acceptable.

likes
- Father/Daughter dates. Jo and Messer always made time on the weekends to have a date together. Sometimes they just went to the park for a long walk. Other times they went to the movies or out to lunch. It makes her sad that she misses out on their dates when she is at Hogwarts.
- Freshly made noodles. Josie had always been a finicky eater, but one of the things she has always loved is her mum’s homemade noodles. Apparently they have been a favorite of hers all of her life.
- Plants, especially flowers. The splendor of greenery and the beauty of colorful, delightfully fragrant flowers have always made her happy. She cannot imagine how anybody could possibly dislike the cheerful little things.
- Dancing! She has always had a passion for dancing. It didn’t matter what sort of dancing it was. The rhythm of the music seems to flow through her body and she cannot help but dance along with it.
- Perfume! If Josie ever found herself without some sort of perfume, she would literally cry. She would accept fragrant lotion if she couldn’t find anything else. Generally she takes a bottle in her purse everywhere she goes.
- Fishing. Messer started taking Jo fishing with him when she was old enough to bait her own hook. The pair would often go on days when Abby was working and they would bring their catch home to cook for supper. Abby has caught many different types of fish, but one of her favorite catches, and happiest memories, was the day she caught a hammerhead shark pup by accident. She of course let it go, but it was really neat for a ten year old.
-Muggle History. Josie went to normal muggle schools before she started her schooling at Hogwarts. One of her favorite subjects in school was history. She is easily captivated by any sort of history and she is more than eager to share her knowledge.
- Art! With a spell on her purse, she is able to carry many things with her wherever she goes. One thing she always carries is a sketch pad. Generally she has a package of drawing pencils with her as well, so she’ll often kick back with her shoes off and just doodle any little thing that comes to mind.
- Orange Soda! She is absolutely addicted to orange Fanta, but in a pinch any sort of orange fizzy drink will do!
- Skittles! Skittles are practically a major staple in Josie’s diet. She enjoys all different kinds, but the original flavors are the ones that remind her of being little kid.
dislikes
- Mean people! She has always been a really friendly person. So, she dislikes people who feel that it’s okay to be mean or rude.
- Violence. Josie is a gentle soul. The most violent thing that Josie does like is quidditch and even then she doesn’t like it when people are maliciously vicious towards other players.
- Being cold. Living in the UK all of her life, Josie has grown to dislike the cold. She doesn’t mind the rain at all. But, if it is snowing or windy, she is more than likely bundled up and grumpy.
- Fake people. Making people believe that you are somebody that you really aren’t makes Josie angry. She is the sort of person that likes to believe the best of everybody. So not being honest with who you are really makes her mad. Being fake is a quick way to lose her respect and trust.
- Homophobes. She has a good muggle friend named Hannah that just so happens to be bisexual. Jo has always been very supportive of her friend and she dislikes people who dislike same sex relationships/marriages.
- Judgmental individuals. People who feel that they have the right to judge others based off of their appearance or their beliefs really ticks Jo off. To her it doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, bi, black, white, skinny, fat, or rainbow colored, as long as you are a good person she doesn’t care who you are.
- Dancing. Josie is into a number of different styles of dancing. Ballet is probably one of her favorites, but she is really into break dancing as well. It isn’t uncommon to see her doing some sort of little dance, no matter where she is.
- Music. If you asked Josie to play music on any sort of instrument, she would tell you that there is no way. She tried to learn as a kid. She was never able to focus enough to actually learn how to play anything though. So, Josie settled for listening to good music instead. When she is at Hogwarts, she uses her wand to play her favorite songs.
-Her ability of premonition. Though her psychic ability can be very useful, she hates that it keeps her from being a part of the Quidditch team at Hogwarts. Once the school learned of her ability to see what was going to happen, they said it was an unfair advantage and that she wouldn’t be able to play for her house team.
- Being sick. Josie HATES being sick in any way. She doesn’t mind if she just has a common cold. But if it is anything more than a sniffle or cough, she is totally miserable.
erised
As a fourth year at Hogwarts, Josie hasn’t really decided what she wants to do with her life. Before she found out that she was a witch, her goal had been to open what muggles call a nursery. That is a shop specializing in plants and garden accessories. Working with magical plants would be interesting for her as well. Josie still plans to work with plants, she just isn’t sure whether it’ll be with muggle plants or wizarding plants.
The one desire that Josie does have is a little brother or sister. Her parents haven’t really told her whether or not they plan on having a baby of their own. She hopes that they do decide to have a one before it is too late for her mum to have any biological children. Growing up without siblings could be quite lonely. Luckily her parents treated Hannah like one on their own kids and the two girls grew up as sisters would, nearly always together.

The one thing that Josie fears the most is losing a member of her family to a car accident. After finding out how her parents died, she became incredibly scared whenever her parents to drive anywhere. It was almost as if she held her breath until she saw them return back home safely. Needless to say, this make her very tense whenever they have to go on trips that involve using a car.
dementor
Josie’s worst memory is was the day she found out that Abby and Messer were not her real parents. All of her life she had grown up thinking that they were her biological parents. When she found out that they were only her adoptive godparents, it shattered her world. It made her question everything that she had ever known, trusting nothing. For Josie it wasn’t really the fact that her parents were dead, it was the fact that the parents she trusted hadn’t told her the truth sooner. She felt that she had been living a complete lie.
patronus
Josie’s patronus is that of a chubby baby harp seal. The happiest memory that Josie has is one of the many days that she and her dad went out fishing. She was only ten years old and they had gone out together to catch something fresh for dinner. When the bell on the end of her rod tinkled, letting her know that something had taken her bait, Josie had no idea what she would be reeling in. At the end of her line was a twenty-eight inch smooth hammerhead pup. Once it was on the boat Messer and Josie looked it over, measuring it, and making sure that it wasn’t seriously harmed by the hook in its mouth. Her dad showed her the tiny rows of teeth that the baby shark had in its mouth and he pointed out exactly where its eyes were. He took the time to tell her that once hammerhead pups were born, they stuck together until they were old enough to fend for themselves. She also learned that even as adults the sharks would stay together during the day and hunt in solitary at night. Hearing and learning so much about the fascinating creature, she was eager to put it back in the water. She hoped with all of her heart that the baby shark would find its brothers and sisters again. Taking it in her hands, she lowered it to the water and watched it slowly swim away.
overall personality
Josie is an all-around good, generous person. Most of the time she is in a bright, cheerful mood. Smiles are frequently seen on her sunny face, giving her a welcoming disposition. Because she is so bubbly and bright, it is very easy for her to make friends. People seem drawn to her kindhearted spirit. Despite her naturally sunny attitude, Josie is very sensitive to other people’s moods. If someone is grumpy, angry, or sad, it really does affect her. Sometimes it makes Josie mad because her mood can plummet out of nowhere, but she does her best to keep her spirits high and a smile on her face at any given time.
She is the sort of person that would do anything for her friend and family. Both are very important to her, and Josie would literally barter her life to make sure that they were all safe and taken care of. Despite making friends easily, she doesn’t allow herself to get very close with others unless they connect with her on another level. After finding out that her real parents were taken from her, she grew paranoid that somebody else close to her would be taken away too. Therefore, she only has her godparents, her grandmum, and her best friend Hannah. That doesn’t mean that she does not want to make more friends. Josie just wants to make friends that have something in common with her on a deeper level then liking the same color as her.
All Josie wants is to have fun and live her life to the fullest. Sometimes that means that she just wants to be a little zany. She can be a little reckless, jumping head long into anything that comes her way. In no way could she be considered a wimp! Her philosophy is that you can’t always take life so seriously. You have to have fun in the darkest of times or else you will go mad. Because of that, sometimes Josie comes off a little immature. But, she knows when she needs to be serious and when it’s time to play.

Abigail Messer, thirty-eight years old, owns a catering company, is the only mother Josie has ever known. Abby has always tried to maintain a wonderful relationship with Jo. She had once been jealous of the natural and easy relationship between her husband and daughter, but over time, she has learned that the connection between her and Jo is strong. Nevertheless, it just isn’t the same sort of connection that Messer and Jo have. Messer is more of a best friend to Josie, while Abby is more of an authoritative figure. While Messer gives Josie freedom, Abby gives her boundaries. Being the stricter of the two parents does have its benefits though. Josie feels comfortable talking about extremely personal things with her mom, things she would not feel comfortable tell her dad.

Derek Messer, thirty-nine years olds, works as a television technical director for a sports team. Josie is the light of Messer’s eye and in turn she is most definitely a daddy’s girl. Though she is not his biological daughter, he could not love her more if she was. He has always been wrapped around her little finger. All Josie has to do is bat her eyes at her dad and she’ll get whatever she wants. Even though she knows that he would give her anything, Josie doesn’t take advantage of him.

Eleanor Cooper is the maternal grandmother of Josie. She was very ill when Eden and Brian died in their accident, which is one of the reasons why they had willed custody of their daughter to Abby and Derek. Eleanor was fighting cancer at the time, but she beat it and made a full recovery. Ellie loves her granddaughter, and Josie’s godparents, more than anything in the world. Jo is her only grandchild so she enjoys spoiling her.

Bestfriend
Hannah Baxter is Josie’s dearest childhood friend. They have been the best of friends since they were in nursery school, playing with their dollies in the sandbox. Hannah is the one person that Jo can really open up to about everything. Even the silliest little thoughts can be shared between the two.

siblings
None at the moment.
Willow
Willow is a four year old domestic medium hair cat that Josie adopted from a shelter when Willow was only a kitten. The thought of being away from home for an entire year was far too scary for Josie. So, she asked her mum if she could have a pet to take along with her, something that she could snuggle when she missed her parents. The two of them, the big fluffy princess and the doting teenaged girl, are the best of companions.
Pip
Teeny, tiny Pip is truly a diamond in the rough. There is a huge personality crammed into the little Saw Whet owl, and Josie finds comfort in how similar the two of them are. Pip is a very intelligent owl. He may not be able to carry large packages, but he knows how to do really cute tricks and has funny mannerisms. Pip likes to flap his wings and do a little dance whenever he is happy and he does a funny little squeak, almost like a laugh, whenever something accidental happens. Slip and fall, and you’ll hear a little squeak, squeak, squeak from the next room. Surprisingly, Pip gets along well with Willow. It’s not uncommon to find the two of them together, normally with Pip sleeping on top of a curled up Willow.
history
Josie did not grow up under the same circumstances as other children her age. The story behind her family is a bittersweet tale woven across the lives of five different people. It starts with her biological parents and ends with two of the most unlikely godparents a child could ever imagine and one maternal grandmum.
It all started with the morning a man named Brian Evans walked into a small bakery for fresh chocolate croissants. Brian was running late to one of his university classes so he hadn’t the time to eat before dashing out of the house that morning. A beautiful woman named Eden Cooper happened to catch his eye while he was placing his order, and immediately he knew that he was smitten. Brian soon became a regular customer just so he had an excuse to talk to Eden as often as possible. It took a little while, but Eden slowly came around to the charming, handsome man. They began dating just a month after Brian’s first visit to the shop. From then on out they become inseparable, moving in together and living an entire year with one another before they decided to tie the knot.
Brian graduated from university and soon became a big named lawyer with one of the biggest law firms in London. With the new job came a new family home and a family car, all they needed was the family. For two years, the couple tried to conceive without being able to. It had gotten to the point where they had given up their dream of ever having a baby. Only after they stopped trying did Eden start to feel a bit off. She did not want to get her hopes up, but she thought that it would be best to take a test just in case, and when the three minutes were up the results were positive. The couple was over the moon, so much so that after calling Eden’s mother Ellie, they called each of their own childhood best friends, Abigail Scott and William Messer, to invite them over and tell them the good news.
Time flew by in a blur of hormonal madness until the birth of one very healthy baby girl, Josephine Louise Evans. Josie was flawless in her parent’s eyes. She quickly became the most important thing in their universe. Not only was she the center of attention for Eden, Brian, and Ellie, but also for Abigail and Messer who proved to be her loving godparents though they hated each other. The Evans' had set them up on one awful date, and since then they had done nothing but push each other’s button at every turn.
Everything seemed to go smoothly for the first year of Josie’s life. She was spoiled and loved beyond her wildest dreams. However, just after her first birthday disaster struck. Eden and Brian had left their baby with a sitter while they went out for a long deserved night alone. On their way, back an oncoming vehicle struck them and both died due to the severity of their injuries. Josie went from having two loving parents to being an orphan in the span of three hours.
Because they were her godparents, Abby and Messer had to decide what was best for Josie. Messer thought that they were not responsible enough to raise their best friend’s child, let alone responsible enough to raise that child together. Messer thought that letting Ellie raise her granddaughter would be best, but she was far too sick battling cancer to raise a child. Abby barely thought about it twice. Her best friend, Eden had wanted her to look after Josie if anything ever happened to them. That was exactly what Abby was going to do. Though he thought it would not be the best for Josie, Messer went along with Abby to a hearing that made them Josie’s official guardians.
Long months passed with Messer and Abby living together in the Evans’ family home. As they raised Josie, there was much that they learned about the child and each other. The first thing was that there was something uniquely special about Josie. She was able to tell them that something was going to happen before it actually did. It would seem she had the gift of premonition. The second thing that they learned was that the unthinkable had happened. Messer and Abby had fallen in love with each other as individuals, as parents, and as a family. Shortly after Josie’s second birthday, Abby and Messer where married. They turned their little trio in to a real family finally.
Years passed by in what seemed like a matter of minutes. When Josie was old enough to understand, her godparents told her the truth about her real mum and dad. The girl had not known what to do with the information so she shut herself away from the only parents that she knew. She would only talk to her grandmum, who had beaten cancer and had become an active member of their family. Ellie told her granddaughter that she would have to forgive her parents. And eventually she came around, wanting to know everything about her real parents. Who were they? What did they do? How did they die? Abby and Messer told her everything about her parents that they possibly could, building an image in her mind of who they really were. Josie accepted that her real parents were dead. After all, she hadn’t known them nor had she known any other parents other than Abby and Messer. The only things she had of Eden and Brian were pictures, homemade videos, and memories that were not her own.
Shortly before Josie received her letter from Hogwarts, she began butting heads with her mum, Abby. They would quarrel constantly and whenever Josie felt like being especially mean, she would throw it in Abby’s face that she wasn’t her real mum. It was very unlike Josie to be cruel. She had been a sweet and thoughtful girl her entire life. Abby knew that it was a phase that her daughter was going through, but she was at a loss about how to fix it. Abby just hoped that it would pass as quickly as it had come. The odd thing about the whole ordeal was that Josie remained close with her dad, Messer.
Then one afternoon after school, Josie found a letter on the front porch from a place called Hogwarts. She didn’t know what the letter meant or who it was from. At first she thought it was a big joke. Josie showed it to her parents, wondering if maybe that had being having a laugh. Abby and Messer had no idea what it was. They were just as confused, being muggles just like Josie’s biological parents. However, the next day an owl arrived explaining that it wasn’t a hoax and that Josie was to follow the written instructions very carefully, explained how to get to Diagon Alley, how to get through the barrier, and where to board the train.
Not long after that, Josie was a full-fledged student at Hogwarts. She was out of her element, and when it came down to it, she relied on her mum more than she ever had. Josie wrote home every week. Her letters were filled with love and respect for the mum she was missing desperately. Poor Pip, Josie’s Saw Whet owl, was pushed to his limits carrying all of the letters back a forth. The strain between mother and daughter was mended just from the separation of the two. Now they are again the happy little family that they always were, only now they have a witch in the family.
