physical
physical appearance
Aria is a rather attractive girl, and her appearance doesn't really match her personality. She has dark brown hair that she prefers to keep long and matching brown eyes. Her hair is definitely her best feature, and it is the one thing she enjoys doing every morning. She has slim stature weighing approximately 113 pounds, and is average in height standing at 5'6." For a cynic, Aria has an incredibly sweet face and warm eyes.
When she dresses herself outside of work she does like to look nice. Aria prefers to wear tailored, classic outfits so that she looks put together. She does this to give the illusion that she's perfectly fine even though she is completely falling apart. Fashion is very important to her because it is the one thing she can completely control in her life, and if anyone tried to dress her she'd probably flip.

If Aria was to actually look into the mirror she would see herself as a little girl with a happy, normal family. She herself rejects this idea because of how much she despises her family.

Aria fears that she'll have a child someday, and she'll become crazy just like her mother did when she was younger.
dementor
When she was in her seventh year of Hogwarts her mother got into horrible car accident and lost an certain amount of memory. That memory consisted of the birth of Aria, and to this day her mother doesn't really completely remember who she is.

Nightingale. When she was thirteen years old her parents got her a baby grand piano for her birthday. The minute it was put into their home they had to force her off of it.
overall personality
If Aria was going to describe herself in one word it would be cynical. Throughout her life she has been disappointed by people, and she has grown to trust only herself. Sometimes Aria would like to believe that she'll open herself up again, but most of the time she's pessimistic. Honestly, she isn't a true cynic, and the only reason she is that way is because she's afraid to be anything different. For most of her life she has been alone and the moment someone tries to get close to her emotionally, she distances herself. After watching her parents divorce after years of marriage has turned her bitter when it comes to relationships.
Her whole entire existence is not bitter. In fact, the one thing that she finds insurmountable joy in is playing the piano. When she was five years old her parents had her start taking lessons, and ever since then she has been completely obsessed with it. Whenever she isn't working she can be found playing something on the piano; she is so dedicated that she can play for hours. Playing the piano gives her hope for the future that she doesn't feel at any other point during the day. In her opinion there is simply something beautiful about creating music from using one's fingers.
Left over from her youth is her ambition and desire to 'prove' herself. Aria has an obsession with trying to be perfect, and often times it results in catastrophe. In fact, Aria usually does a better job when she doesn't try so hard to overachieve. She has been known to completely stress herself out by taking on too much work. Her work load is piled on so high that she usually stays up to the most ungodly hour hyped up on caffeine. Considering there isn't anyone left to prove herself to because she's severed her relationship with her parents, she has gotten into habit.

history
Three years before the birth of Aria, Atticus and Elizabeth Goodman lost their very first child. He was eight months old, and he drowned because he had been left in the bath unattended. The couple had been very young when he was born, Elizabeth was eighteen and Atticus nineteen. After Aaron's death Elizabeth was unable to recover from depression. Atticus, on the other hand, dragged himself into the pits of denial. Instead of addressing their issues head on they ignored them and two years later they had a baby girl named Aria. Her father chose the name because of his love of opera, and an aria was a long solo for a singer. After their daughter was born Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to even hold her in the hospital. No one ever told Aria that, but over the years she's managed to guess.
The couple tried their hardest to give Aria a regular life. They managed to be very careful with her during her early childhood; they were so careful it was almost verging on paranoid. When Aria started to get older, Elizabeth started to lose her grip on reality more and more. Finally, Atticus made her attend counseling, and her doctor put her on medication. Unfortunately, the medication didn't really help but gave her uncomfortable symptoms. Although Aria was never physically neglected by her parents, she was emotionally neglected, especially by her mother. For years the Goodman's lived with Elizabeth's insanity, leaving Atticus to care for Aria.
When Aria was finally old enough to realize what was wrong with her mother she wanted nothing more than to have her attention. She tried doing the most drastic things, and sometimes those 'normal' drastic actions turned into something totally unnatural. Aria would break plates without touching them, start the fire in the fireplace when she was angry without really doing anything, and levitate items. Just like every other odd thing, her parents tried to act like it didn't exist. To get her mind away from the reality of her life, her father arranged for her to take piano lessons.
At the age of eleven her parents got a letter from Hogwarts stating that she was accepted into the school. Her father thought it was a practical joke, but when a representative from the school showed up he realized that it wasn't. When Aria learned that she'd be away from home she was ecstatic. Even though she was eleven she knew that her mom was crazy, and that her dad was always distracted. Aria had no idea what to expect, but when she got to the castle and saw what she had signed up for she was in awe. When the Sorting Ceremony began the hat placed her into Slytherin, but debated Gryffindor. Not knowing what either of those things meant, she accepted being placed with the snakes.
Aria was blissful during her first year at Hogwarts. She made friends and didn't have to hear fighting every night. For the first time she was able to concentrate on what she wanted, but she was disappointed that she couldn't play the piano whenever she wanted to. Aria loved being away from her muggle home, and the wizarding world became her true 'home away from home.' In her third year she was keeper for the Slytherin Quidditch, and in her fifth year she was made prefect. Aria was onto of the world by her sixth year, and there was nothing that could bring her down. Unfortunately, this bliss wouldn't last much longer.
During the summer before her seventh year her mother got into a horrible car accident and forgot sixteen years of her life, including Aria's birth. When Aria visited the hospital her mom had no idea who she was. Her whole life had been dedicated to impressing and getting the attention of her mother, and now that she had no idea who she was that was lost. To cope with her own depression she began sneaking into her mother's medicine cabinet and took her pills. The medication helped her, and soon she was addicted to it. Before returning to Hogwarts she took a bottle of her mom's pills, hoping she wouldn't notice, and continued to take them. By the end of her seventh year she looked like a mess. To make matters worse, her mother decided that it was too hard to try and recall her old life and left her father. What her mother didn't realize was that she was also leaving her daughter behind.
When her father saw how horrible she looked after graduation, he demanded that she see a specialist. Aria went to the same doctor as her mother. He gave her a prescription for her own anti depressants. Deep down Aria didn't want to take them even though she had been for the past year; she didn't want to become her mother. Once the pills were administered she left muggle London for good and moved to Godric's Hollow. With almost perfect scores on her OWLS and NEWTS she was able to secure an internship within the Ministry. From there she became interested in becoming an auror.
The minute she was old enough to qualify for the training program she submitted her application. Aria worked her butt off to get an auror position and at the age of twenty two she was eventually granted the coveted spot. For the past few years she has maintained her job as a respectable auror. When the mess with Potter and the Dark Avengers occurred she was on the fence, but decided to support the Insurgence. In her eyes the Dark Avengers are a group of insane people, and the last thing she wants is to associate herself with basket cases.
