Pyrus is still considered an attractive and handsome man despite his age and he takes some pains in his appearance since he prefers to look good than let himself go like some others his age do.
He has salt and pepper hair that is starting to thin slightly on top although he is in no danger of going bald any time soon and his face is always cleanly shaven since he hates stubble and even though his hair has gone to the dark side of age there are still hints of brown and ginger in any stubble that does make it through. If he is ever seen with stubble on his face then it is a sign that something is deeply troubling him.
His face, whilst still handsome has many wrinkles although he likes to pretend that these are laughter lines and since he has something of a broad sense of humour it is probably true for the most part. Pyrus has warm brown eyes with some green flecks although these can be hidden behind the glasses he needs to read. His eyes are considered warm and inviting although this is a falsehood since he is quite the opposite.
As for clothing Pyrus tends to stick to good old fashioned wizarding wear, choosing robes over anything else although he will wear trousers paired with a dragon hide jacket and boots. He owns a pair of brown wire framed glasses he wears to read although he often forgets about them and will wear them all day or even walk around with them on top of his head. As the Herbology Professor he has a set of earth brown robes with a leather apron that is specifically for his class and it is never a surprise to see him hurrying about with them on and with various flora and fauna sticking out of his pockets. Just don't let the befuddled professor look distract you for he really is a cruel man.

Lets start off with the bad traits of one Pyrus Adair shall we?
Pyrus is a cruel man. Anyone that ever knew him really well could testify to that fact. He is a pure blood elitist who believes that only purebloods should have access to magic and that those lower in blood status should never be treated as an equal to himself. However, whilst at Hogwarts he is completely opposite to this and is often considered to be a highly approachable person despite being head of the snake house and you would never guess that he is secretly plotting to bring down the school from the inside.
A member of the Death Eaters during the reign of Voldemort Pyrus is no stranger to the world of evil magic and is an avid follower of the dark. He was a part of the attack on the school when Potter had been but a child and was one of the lucky ones to have gotten away with only a couple of battle wounds and his identity still a secret from the world at large. He enjoys learning dark magic and is quite fond of the three unforgivable curses, taking great pleasure in knowing he can cause someone immense pain with barely a flick of his wand.
On the other hand of course Pyrus has several adopted children he loves unconditionally. He would do anything for them, and each and every one knows how much he cares for them. Like all parents he has had his ups and downs with them but at the end of the day he is still their father and although he knows they would occasionally wish for a mother figure in their lives he takes great comfort in the knowledge that they would always come to him if they have a problem. Since all of them are pureblood they have all come to his home with the knowledge that they are better than those around them and since becoming a part of the Adair family this has become a lot more prominent in their lives although he has taught them that to uphold the family name they must follow in his footsteps and keep it tamed down.
Pyrus has some father issues of his own of course, his own father having run off with a muggleborn witch when he was sixteen. He has never forgiven the man for abandoning his family and has since looked after his heartbroken mother and when he first started to adopt knowing he would never be able to have his own biological children he swore to himself that never again would his family be broken in such a way. He loves his mother greatly although he does wish she wouldn't insist on trying to set him up with women! Not a social function goes by without her attempting to set up some kind of blind date...He isn't interested being very much gay thank you!
Otherwise Pyrus is a very manipulative man who loves nothing more than to get his own way. Good at telling lies and keeping them hardly a soul at the school knows his true personality (barring his children of course) and he takes great pleasure out of this. He is very good at keeping secrets and when the mood takes him he is also very good at leaking them to the general public.

Pyrus did not have any particular interesting stories to the first few years of his life apart from the fact he was born a pureblood to a family that upheld the legacy of blood status. His entire life up until the age of sixteen was really quite boring. He had a loving mother and father and attended school at the age of eleven, being sorted into Slytherin the moment the hat was placed on his head and barring the realisation that he was gay and his first kiss was with a boy in the prefect bathroom at the age of fifteen there wasn't really much to get excited about.
That is...until he turned sixteen. He had been aware that there were problems between his parents for some time but never in a million years would he have thought that his father would leave his family behind and not just run away but run away with a muggle! A muggle! The scandal would have been devastating enough had Pyrus not forbidden his mother to mention it at any point outside the house and since she was far too heartbroken to do more than agree he quickly stepped into the role of head of the household and as far as the general public knows his father died over the summer holidays.
Returning to school people noticed a slight change in the boy. He was more assertive in his role as prefect and tended to take a hold of the younger students more than ever before leading many to believe that he had had to grow up quickly although in reality the shock of his father running away had simply allowed him to show his true nature a little more.
By the time he left school he had nurtured a love for Herbology and taking into account he was also quite good at potions made a career for himself at St Mungos as a healer for some time. It was during this time at the hospital that he began to dabble into the more darker realms of magic, and eventually he joined the group known as the Death Eaters where he flourished under a regime that allowed blood supremacy to rule. Of course with the world as it was he had no choice but to keep his identity a secret.
By the time he was twenty four the war was coming to an end. Everyone could feel it. One way or another it would end but no one knew in which way. He was one of many who attacked Hogwarts that day although he was only one of few who managed to get away relatively unscathed and with their identity safe from the ministry of magic. Leaving his mask behind Pyrus returned home to his mother and to a career he no longer found interesting.
His life held no meaning in those few years. Drifting between work and caring for his mother he was soon drawn to starting a family of some kind and since he found it hard to connect with people and knowing that his sexuality prevented him from having children biologically he began to look at those children orphaned by the war...and found there were many. He could have chosen children left behind from families on both sides of the war but he chose to take in those that had connections to good, pure blooded families that had sided with Voldemort. He was a good father, providing for them and helping them with homework and now that he has recently turned sixty his small family has grown to his mother and five children.
At the age of fifty however the position of Herbology professor opened up at Hogwarts and seeing an opportunity to spend more time with the family he loved he took the position willingly and has since spent the last ten years trying to instil a passion for plants to his students although very many of them simply take the subject because they think it an 'easy pass'. Anyone in the higher years of the school could tell them that there was no such thing in his classes! It was only recently that the position of head of house came up and he quickly snapped it up, arguing that as a former Slytherin he was the best man for the job and really, wasn't it about time some of the inter house bridges were created? A front only. He has no time for those outside his beliefs and uses this position as a means to worm out those loyal to this new war.
As a former Death Eater he was more than willing to take part in the downfall of Potter. He was only one of the ones to cast the curses that killed the younger man but he is only one of few willing to do the most damage. Pyrus is quite willing to do what it takes to bring about the world order he has envisioned (apart from hurting his children in any way of course) and is a big part of recruiting those students at the school to the Dark Avengers once they graduate and is the reason there is even a group at the school called the Shadows. He doesn't lead it of course but he was the one to put it into the heads of the students and is the reason the vampire Maria was there to make sure everything goes according to plan.
He will bring about his world order no matter what. The plans of the Dark Lord would not go forgotten.
