Maybelle loved Valentines day with all its love heart glory but never, in all the years she had been interested in dating had she ever had a date for the day itself. It was quite depressing really and she had really hoped that this year it would be different, having gotten a date with one of her fellow trainees at the hospital. At least...that had been the plan. She had made sure that she would get the afternoon off, double checked the time and place with him and had even worn a dress! All for nothing. She had been sat here for nearly an hour, two empty glasses of butterbeer to the side of her and her journal full of notes on her work before her.
Sighing she rested her head on her hand and turned to look at the door with a frown on her face before turning back to what she had been doing for the last hour. Why did this have to happen to her? Was there something wrong with the way she acted or with the way she looked? Picking up the quill she went back to scribbling in the journal, looking over her notes and adding new ones as and when she thought it might help her.
Maybe she was to dedicated to her work? She had certainly been burning the candle at both ends recently, not even having the time to fire call her parents as often as before but her work was important! Ever since her brother had died she had dreamed of being able to help other people and since she was half way through her first year at the hospital she was due for some big exams...which meant every moment Maybelle had free was spent on reviewing everything she had ever learnt. Which was a lot!
Looking back up she smiled at the barmaid as she came over to the table, nodding when she was asked if the glasses were finished with. "Oh sure, can I have another?" A smile gave her thanks as the other girl walked off before turning her head again to look at the door. Why was she still looking out for him? She had been stood up! She ought to storm out of here and give him a piece of her mind but what was the point? Nothing was going to change. She had still be stood up and she was still sat here on her own. Apparently someone out there really didn't want her to see this guy...
